But comprehensive lifestyle redesigns almost never work. They work for about three days and then life reasserts itself and the whole system collapses and the person feels worse than before.
Here is what I suggest instead: one small thing. Not one small thing as a compromise on the way to the big change. One small thing as the whole point.
The water does not transform the canyon through a single dramatic effort. It keeps going. The power is in the consistency, not the force.
Leave the phone in your pocket for the walk from your car to your building. Notice two things. That is it. Do it tomorrow. And the day after. After a week you will have had seven genuine contacts with an unhurried moment. That is not nothing. That is the beginning.
